Tell Me About Erasmus Mundus GLOBED Scholarships:

GLOBED will be implemented withing the Erasmus+ framework until the year 2029, which means that students who apply along the next four intakes will have the possibility to opt for the Erasmus Mundus scholarship as well.

The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master in Education Policies for Global Development (GLOBED) aims to set new standards as an international Master in the field of globalization, education and international development.

The programme has been recently awarded an Erasmus+ grant by the European Commission for the third time, covering the years 2023-2029 and following the 2014-2019 and 2018-2024 periods.

Started in September 2015, GLOBED constitutes a solid and coherent international education program in the areas of global education policy and international development. The existing postgraduate offer in Europe does not devote sufficient attention to these themes; education for development is usually part of broader International Development Studies, and typically features a narrow disciplinary and territorial focus. By bringing together research centres from all around Europe from different backgrounds and networks, GLOBED will promote an interdisciplinary approach to the field of education and development, and will provide expertise from all regions of the world.

Who Can Apply For Erasmus Mundus GLOBED Scholarships?

Academic background: A Bachelor’s degree title on Educational Sciences or in any other relevant field (preferably in Sociology, Social/Cultural Anthropology, Political Sciences, Human Geography and International Relations).The degree programme should last a minimum of three years and correspond to 180 ECTS.
Academic qualifications: A minimum grade average of 7/10 (or equivalent of C), or GPA of 2.75/4.
English proficiency: High English language proficiency to be demonstrated through Secure English Language Test (SELT) result at the required levels.*Please check proficiency waivers on the FAQs section.

HOW ARE APPLICANTS SELECTED?

Admissions to the programme are centrally administered by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Qualitative assessment of the candidates is performed jointly by the four universities of the Consortium. Before applying, please check carefully the FAQ’s section to avoid any misunderstanding.

WHERE WILL AWARD BE TAKEN?

The GLOBED project is funded by the European Commission (under the Erasmus Lifelong Learning Programme) and is being developed by a consortium of four European Universities. The consortium includes the Globalisation, Education and Social Policies research group from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, as the coordinating institution; the College of Social Sciences from the University of Glasgow, the Department of Political Sciences from the University of Bremen; and the Department of Educational Sciences from the University of Cyprus.

HOW MANY AWARDS?

In concrete, the Consortium will be able to offer up to 24 scholarships per edition, including regional scholarships and scholarships for students with special needs.

What Is The Benefit Of Erasmus Mundus GLOBED Scholarships?

All scholarship holders, regardless of their residence or nationality, will receive 1.400 € per month along the two-years programme. The Erasmus+ scholarship includes subsistence, mobility and installation costs. It also covers the registration at the four universities of the consortium and a worldwide health insurance.

Academic qualifications
- Official copies of diplomas and transcripts in the original language as well as English or Spanish translations detailing subjects studied (ECTS or hours), grade per subject and overall grade.
English proficiencyProficiency in English may be certified by one of the following SELT:
- TOEFL: score of at least 90 with a writing score at least 24 in the writing section.
- Cambridge Proficiency Examination Advanced Certificate: at least pass at grade C1 or better.
- IELTS (Academic): at least 7.0 with a minimum of 6.0 in each element and 7.5 in the writing section.

**Certificates issued more than two years ago will not be considered.
Interest in GLOBED
- A letter of motivation explaining your background and reasons for applying to the programme (maximum one page).
- Recommender details. Students must submit a document with the contact details (full name, position and e-mail) of two faculty members or job supervisors whom GLOBED may contact at the final stage of the selection process. Recommendation letters are not accepted.
- A short essay on a topic proposed by the Academic Board (maximum one page).
