The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) unanimously voted to extend Jay Shah’s presidency by one year during its Annual General Meeting held on Wednesday. This marks the second consecutive term extension for Shah, highlighting the leadership and vision he brings to the organization.
Sri Lanka Cricket President, Shammi Silva, proposed Shah’s re-election, receiving unanimous support from all ACC members. Shah, who took over the reins in January 2021 from Nazmul Hassan, became the youngest administrator to hold consecutive ACC President terms.

“We remain dedicated to fostering cricket’s growth, especially in emerging regions,” said Shah, emphasizing the ACC’s commitment to developing the sport across Asia. Under his leadership, the ACC successfully hosted both the T20 and ODI editions of the Asia Cup in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
Silva expressed his satisfaction with the unanimous support for Shah’s extension. “Jay has a proven track record of boosting finances through commercial and broadcast deals, channeling these funds to grassroots development and supporting associate members,” he remarked.
Nazmul Hassan, President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board and ACC Executive Board Member, echoed similar sentiments. “Under Mr. Shah’s leadership, the ACC has scaled new heights, particularly in grassroots development. His efforts have elevated the Asia Cup to become a premier continental tournament. We are confident that cricket in Asia will continue to flourish under his direction,” he said.
Mirwais Ashraf, Chairman of the Afghanistan Cricket Board and ACC Executive Board Member, commended Shah’s focus on providing greater exposure to regional cricketers. “The Asia Cup showcases the true competitiveness of Asian teams,” he said, appreciating Shah’s financial management strategies. “We pledge full support and anticipate another successful term for the ACC under his leadership.”
