Describe your idea: Public bodies advertise orders in a variety of ways – but invariably have to use a national and local media to “ensure” the public are notified. This is often very expensive.
However, “local” media are becoming scarce with the closure of local newspapers, and circulation is often limited. The idea that this approach will ensure good communication is fast disappearing .
A central websource could deliver the service, add additional facilities (e.g. texting and e-mailing people who register an interest agaist a post code), and reduce cost
What problem does it solve?: Reduces cost
Overcomes lack of local outlets for public notices (e.g. fewer local newspapers and lack of Post Offices)
Introduces real-time flagging through registered people
Hhighlights notices by post code or grid reference from all public services
One location for all notices (similar role as London Gazette – but far more accessible)

Hi Rob,
We were interested by your idea for a website to allow people to discover public notices for their area. As you mentioned, it would provide a similar service to the London Gazette which already has a substantial web presence. At the moment, we feel that this development falls under the remit of the Power of Information report from the Cabinet Office and not CF Labs. As a result, we have decided not to take this idea forward for development at this time.
