Describe your idea: Meeting up can be very expensive. Hotels have cornered the market for hosting work and private functions. Yet most towns and villages have facilities like village halls which are infrequently used – often by local groups in the evening. These often have all the facilities required and charge just a fraction of the hotel rate. Could a website act as a record of where these facilities exist, what they can offer, price and how to book ? This could offer wider choice and provide a cost effective option and provide additional funding to these sites. Of course it could open up a bigger market for the small public house or similar facility thereby providing a wide range of options to community groups and business alike.
What problem does it solve?: Provides a range of options for meetings in a range of locations and for a range of prices. Would offer more choice and bring money into towns and village amenities.

As previously mentioned somewhere on this site, we fully support the re-use of resources through online facilitation, and as such we think that this type of site is a very worthwhile endeavour.
However, we know through experience that it can be very difficult to maintain a service that relies on multiple participants to keep it up to date. Therefore, the scope is probably too large for Consumer Focus Labs at this time, but this has made it on to our list of things to review at some point in the future.
In the meantime, we’d be more than happy to support others who are thinking of setting up such a service in any way we can.
